Mission Valley Real Estate - 92108

the
heart of the city. The area has long been attractive to settlers as
well as
developers. In the early days of the area, Indians called the river
banks
home. Today, Mission Valley has evolved into
a major urban area of shopping, restaurants, hotels, housing and office
buildings. In the year 1769 Father Junipero Serra moved the Mission
San
Diego de Alcala into the valley from the hilltop Presidio location.
The valley gets its name from the mission. In the past, agriculture
was the
main industry of the valley. For many years, dairy farms and cows were
the
main residents of the landscape. Sand gravel quarries were started in
the
early 1900's and a few continue to do business today.

road served as the spark which started the commercial growth that
continues
today. The San Diego River has long since been tamed, however during
period
of heavy sustained rains; the valley is prone to flooding. The valley

here. In 2003, the stadium was a temporary home to over 10,000 people
that
were evacuated from their homes during the disastrous wild fires that
ravaged the county in October of that year.
