Poway Real Estate
The "City in the country" serves as the nickname for Poway, one of the
fastest-growing cities in the near north inland area of the county.
Rich in
Native American history, the word Poway is actually derived from
several
words. One original spelling; "Paguay" eventually derived in to the
current
spelling which means "the two little valleys".
The area's history dates back to 1758 when padres from the Mission San
Diego
de Alcala herded cattle in the valley.
Poway incorporated as a city in 1980 and has thrived ever since. The
diverse community is known for its area schools and offers a wide range
of
housing choices for residents. Shopping, entertainment, and
recreational
opportunities abound. The Poway Center for the Performing Arts offers
fine
concert and theatrical productions.
Surrounded on three sides by San Diego city limits, the city of Poway
sits
west of interstate 15 in a scenic valley framed to the north by "twin
peaks", a set of twin hills that highlight the surrounding hillsides.
Poway
is neighbor to Sabre Springs to the west, Rancho Bernardo to the north,
and
Scripps Ranch to the south.
